My Current Pre-Orders #1

As an avid reader and book lover, I buy books in every way possible. I frequent used book sales, I scour email newsletters for eBook deals, and I have my occasional binge buys (I love doing that on BookOutlet!). If I am truly excited about a book, though, I will pre-order it the second I can! It is undoubtedly one of my favorite ways to buy books. There's something to look forward to, I'm guaranteed a copy, and, because I use Amazon, I get to take advantage of their Pre-Order Price Guarantee. I can place an order months in advance for a book that's $16 at the time of purchase, but if the price drops at all between the order and release date, I get the lowest price offered...even if it gets raised again! It's basically amazing.

I currently have 8 books on order, so I thought it would be fun to share them with you!

Here they are, in order of publication date:

I have been anticipating the release of Colleen Hoover's next book since last fall. I mean, ugh. When I placed the order, the book didn't have a cover or a description and I didn't need one because it's one of my favorite authors. I don't want the summer to fly by, but dammit if I don't want August 2nd right now. It doesn't help that some of my favorite book bloggers/IGers/YouTubers have received Advanced Reader's Copies (ARCs) and are all absolutely obsessed with it, saying it is the best book of hers to date. Oh, CoHo.

Amy Schumer is awesome. If you haven't watched her show, you should hop on it. It is an awesome mix of crass humor and observations on the way women are viewed and treated in the world today. As soon as her book had a title and a release date, I pre-ordered. I'm excited to read this. I love learning about my favorite funny ladies (Amy Poehler, Mindy Kaling, etc.).

Tahereh Mafi wrote the Shatter Me series, a trilogy (with 2 novellas) that I absolutely adored. Mafi's writing is beautiful (though some argue it is a bit much) and I also happen to have a huge crush on her because she's just awesome. Furthermore is actually a middle-grade novel, but I'm definitely not one to poo-poo books just because the age category is younger than I usually go for. I'm excited to see what else Tahereh Mafi has up her sleeves!

Jason Segel is my CELEBRITY CRUSH. Bold, caps, end-all be-all. He just is. I think we all have that one favorite and he happens to be mine. I own both physical and audio versions of the first two books in this series but, whoopsies, I haven't read (or listened to) either of them yet. These books are middle-grade and sound so good (and look amazing, love the illustrations and all the covers are a little shimmery), but I've kinda been waiting for the series to end before I read them. Also, I hate the idea of reading them and then having it be over. I'm weird.

Confession: I haven't read Six of Crows yet. I also don't usually go for books like Six of Crows. But when I saw those black-stained pages...hot damn, I needed it. I've heard awesome things about it, though, so I am excited to finally get to it. When I saw that the sequel was being released, I had to pre-order it because I just knew it was going to have amazing pages again...and it DOES! This one has red-stained pages. Very excited.

Lauren Oliver has been a hit-or-miss author for me. I have yet to read the Delirium trilogy, but I LOVED Before I Fall, mildly enjoyed Panic, and was super-annoyed with Vanishing Girls. All of that being said, I am a sucker for a gimmicky book. Replica is one book, but you flip it over to read two different stories that make up one novel...I think? I'm not sure about all the details, but I want in.

Much like Six of Crows, I bought Illuminae last year because its f&*$ing gorgeous and unique and weird. Also like Six of Crows, I haven't read Illuminae yet. Though many people thought it was over-hyped, it has a huge following and it the book is formatted in the coolest way. I am hoping to goodness that Gemina will be as beautiful a book as its predecessor (clear dust jacket, writing on the hardback).

Funny girls. Cool actresses. Whatever the case. As I mentioned above, I will read these books. From what I've heard, Anna Kendrick was given a book deal simply because her Twitter feed is funny. I adore Ms. Kendrick, so I pre-ordered the book as soon as the title and release date were announced. I'm curious what the cover will be like, since apparently this cover isn't the cover, but an announcement that the cover will be unveiled?

I'm hoping none of these release dates get pushed back (Colleen Hoover's book should come out RIGHTNOW, though), because that's always a possibility.

Are there any book releases that you're anticipating?
