January Wrap-Up!

Well, the first month of 2017 is done! Time sure does fly. I've had a pretty successful reading month, and I really hope to keep that up as my life continues to get a little crazier with wedding planning (I picked my dress! We ordered our Save the Dates!). Fun stuff.
But, books, right?

Books Read

The Sun Is Also a Star - Nicola Yoon (Review)
The Disaster Artist - Greg Sestero & Tom Bissell
The Odds of Loving Grover Cleveland - Rebekah Crane
The First Time She Drowned - Kerry Kletter
Talking As Fast As I Can (Audiobook) - Lauren Graham
I'm Not Your Manic Pixie Dream Girl - Gretchen McNeil
Lily and the Octopus - Steven Rowley
History Is All You Left Me - Adam Silvera
The Fiery Trial (...Shadowhunter Academy #8) - Cassandra Clare & Maureen Johnson
We Are the Ants - Shaun David Hutchinson

My favorites from last month are definitely The Sun Is Also a Star and We Are the Ants! I've been wanting to writing more reviews, but it is so hard to get my thoughts down without getting too rambly or spoilery. I'm working on it, though.

Books Bought

Girls in the Moon - Janet McNally
I'm Not Your Manic Pixie Dream Girl  - Gretchen McNeil
History Is All You Left Me - Adam Silvera
By Your Side - Kasie West
Your Perfect Life
- Liz Fenton & Lisa Steinke

eBooks Bought

The Memory of Light - Francisco X. Stork
The Mutual Admiration Society - Lesley Kagen (Kindle First selection)
The Girl in the Well Is Me - Karen Rivers

Still trying to keep book buying to a minimum, but I am proud of reading a couple of the books I bought not long after getting them. I'm trying to be more realistic about what I purchase physically (I have a lot less guilt about eBooks, considering I usually get them for less than $3) and I've been doing a decent job.

Challenges!

This year I am taking part in 3 challenges: Goodreads (as always), Litsy A to Z and the Litsy Reading Challenge (follow me @MLVReads!) The Litsy challenges are pretty straightforward (I talked a bit about them here) and I think they will help with my ever present TBR Tackle (I think I'll stick with counting purchases made more than 6 months ago for this year and will hopefully continue to help me buy less books!). Let's check out the results!

Goodreads Reading Challenge: 10/100 (10% done!)
Litsy A to Z: 9/26 (Not counting the Shadowhunter novella for this)
Litsy Reading Challenge: 4/25 (though I haven't decided which book should be my Free Space...I didn't think about it when I just highlighted it on my makeshift Bingo board :O)

TBR Tackle 1/10 books read this month (I bought We Are the Ants last February!)

As I mentioned, I had a good reading month. I've been getting better at reading what I want and putting down the stuff that is boring me (which I did a few times this month and am grateful I did!). Here's to a great February!!!
